Images from the Road: Trinidad, CO (From Mike's Cell Phone)

Well, we got a cryptic note from Mike via his cell phone that there was no ISP (Internet Service Provider) - so presumably we will not hear from him on the blog tonight. We do have this amazing photo of the scenery that he sent us from his phone. :-)

Mike:

I just got caught up on the blog, learned about your injuries and your need to switch to the FPD edition Harley. It's great to see what looked liked defeat being turned into something positive.

When you set out, you talked about the parallels between your journey and the journey of a burn survivor in recovery. There is a unexpected parallel here. Burn survivors have their lives and plans derailed by a painful event they cannot control. We need others to step in, not only to save our lives, but to help us rebuild them. One of the tasks of recovery is seeing how much we need others, while at the same time regaining a great deal of independence and finding ways to give and support others.

May the rest of your trip be a bit easier on body and soul.

Thanks David. We really do need others. It is easy to forget that humans need to give as well as receive to feel whole.
